Working Group on Outreach:
Activities 2007 - 2009
The working group has
made an effort to promote especially the
participation of African scientists to the
geothermal symposium and workshop at the
2009 IASPEI General Assembly in Cape Town,
South Africa. These events will be a unique
opportunity to gather African researchers
and to create a stimulating
cross-fertilization among worldwide
scientists involved in geothermal studies.
Since one of the main goals of the
geothermal meetings will be to provide much
space for applications, a list of potential
contributors has been contacted which not
only are familiar with general geothermics
but also involved in the renewable energies
field. More than twenty potential
contributors or institutions from nine
African countries were alerted and solicited
to possibly spread information on the
upcoming geothermal event through the
African geoscientist community.
